"Fighting the Good Fight"

Plaster, Concrete, Boxing Gloves, Spray Paint, Gold Leaves

45 x 30 x 75 cm / 18 x 12 x 30"

"I wanted to give a representation of woman different from the one commonly found in art history, knowing an object submitted for the male gaze. Here her “attributes” are hidden by objects which have a connotation toward power and manliness, thus disturbing the idea of woman being a docile submissive thing. The back of the sculpture is covered with gold leaves, thus bringing back a mystical sensitivity (referring to the Byzantine gold mosaic, or even to the golden calf idol) ad therefor pushing the viewer to reconsider his definition of womanhood."
