"Untitled"

Carrara Marble

"Untitled” is a marble sculpture carved out of a single block. The idea came out of a reflection on parietal art, when I learnt that the first human representation worldwide was that of a woman. Later came a masculine representation in the figure of the bull, and later representations of men. I tried to integrate an organic, and somehow geometric, simple form and the form of the human body in one continuum. I believe buttocks are quite everywhere nowadays between social media, pop culture and leggings, this is something normal to show, display, or encounter them in our everyday life. I made a sacralisation of this specific body part by referring back to parietal art, where women with very large hips represented the Goddess of the universe.
